Michael Fuller
Michael Fuller is the managing partner of the Knobbe Martens office in San Diego and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. He speaks internationally on a variety of intellectual property topics, and is know for his expertise in intellectual property involving molecular biology and computer science. Mike was invited to speak on the subject of artificial intelligence in biotechnology at 2024 Intellectual Property Owner’s Annual Meeting and the USPTO’s Biotech Customer Partnership (BCP) and Technology Fair meetings in 2023. Mike is also a consummate deal-maker, working regularly with his clients to negotiate agreements for the sale or license of valuable technologies. Collaborating with clients to develop strong, enforceable, IP portfolios in technologies as diverse as autonomous driving, lithium ion batteries, medical diagnostics, web systems and services, DNA sequencing, gene amplification, pharmaceuticals and therapeutic monoclonal antibodies is a hallmark of Mike’s practice. As a graduate student, Mike worked on software and biologic analyses of cholesterol-carrying apolipoproteins to advance the understanding of atherosclerosis and heart disease. Following graduate school he co-founded several high-technology startups that designed and fabricated personal computer motherboards, and created custom software and services for a variety of businesses. Mike received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in biology/molecular biology from UCLA, and his J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law.
