
Dr. Michael Schloegl
Dr. Michael Schloegl is the Head of IP SEP at Continental, where he oversees the resolution of disputes between Standard Essential Patent (SEP) holders and companies in the automotive sector. He was actively involved in cases determining FRAND (Fair, Reasonable, and Non-Discriminatory) rates for 4G cellular SEPs in the United States, playing a pivotal role in shaping industry standards. With over two decades of experience in intellectual property, he began his IP career at Siemens in 2001 and joined Continental in 2007. At Continental, he established an IP department in Eastern Europe and contributed to various IP-related legislative initiatives in the region. He is a key figure in developing a SEP licensing framework in Europe, participating in SEP-focused working groups across multiple associations. His expertise was further recognized in December 2020 when he was elected to the board of ETSI (European Telecommunications Standards Institute). Holding a PhD in high-energy physics, he combines his technical background with extensive IP knowledge to address critical challenges in SEP licensing and automotive industry innovation.
