Kirk Sigmon is a Partner at Banner & Witcoff Ltd., an intellectual property law firm in Washington, D.C., where he specializes in intellectual property litigation and prosecution. With a focus on U.S., European, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean patent prosecution, he has extensive international experience. He has worked on hundreds of AI-related patents and has been published on AI legal topics for over a decade.

He is an IBM-certified Machine Learning professional and is currently completing an AI-focused Master’s program at Dartmouth. His broad expertise spans various technologies, including computer networking, cellular communications, video gaming, virtual reality, machine learning, military weapons systems, blockchain technologies, aerospace flight systems, and more.

He began his legal career in Tokyo and regularly handles intellectual property matters across the U.S., Japan, Korea, China, and Europe. He has worked with both Fortune 500 companies and startups, advising clients at every stage of invention, patent prosecution, intellectual property enforcement, and litigation. Additionally, he holds certifications in FinTech from the University of Hong Kong, as well as certifications in machine learning, cybersecurity, and blockchain law.
